HIV/AIDS awareness program held at Hungpung, Ukhrul

The Manipur Legislator's Forum on HIV & AIDS (MLFA) today organised a "One Day Constituency Level Awareness Programme on HIV/AIDS" at Kaziphung Government High School Kaziphung, Hungpung Village in Ukhrul District.
The local MLA Danny Shaiza, graced the function which was participated by hundreds of students as Chief Guest.
Emphasising on the importance of prevention from being infected by HIV/AIDS, the Chief Guest promised to extend all possible help to fight the raging diseases in Ukhrul District.
When asked about the steps taken up to look upon the negligence and discrimination towards HIV infected persons, the absence of blood bank and basic infrastructure for HIV infected persons in Ukhrul District Hospital, Danny said that he was not aware of the issue and now that he is aware of it and he will go down to Imphal and discuss this grave issue with the authority concerned and take up necessity action without further delay.
The Project Manager of Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, M Thankson briefed on HIV/AIDS and Harm Reduction as a resource person and councillor of PLWHA, Ninganung Luithui shared her experiences as a mother with HIV positive person.
Ninganung encouraged the participants not to shy away from the issue and join hands in fighting the stigma and to understand the person by spreading awareness.
