Imphal, August 21 2011:
President, NCP Manipur Pradesh, MLA Radhabinod Koijam today lambasted the SPF government from neglecting its responsibilities saying that solving the present problems arising out of the ongoing indefinite general strike of SHDDC and UNC's indefinite total blockade against the SHDDC's demand is the responsibility and obligation of the state government.
Speaking in a felicitation function of the newly elected office bearers of Thangmeiband Kendra NCP held at Ibudhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba Shanglen, Radhabinod said that the demand of a full-fledge Sadar Hills district is an old demand and it is also a legitimate one.
On the other hand, seeing the complexity of the demand of the SHDDC, it is also not an easy task to solve the issue immediately.
Meanwhile, Jiribam can also be granted a district status concerning the topographical structure and the prevailing situation wherein an influx of migrants may lead to a problem which could be out of the reach of the administration.
In the meantime, Nagas, under the aegis of UNC, are imposing an indefinite total blockade in the NHs in the state reacting against the district demands of Sadar Hills and Jiribam and this has added to the miseries being faced by the people.
Although it may be a difficult task for the state government in solving these issues, it is the responsibility for the state government to solve the issues, he said.
