Imphal, August 21 2011:
Taking serious note of the turmoil resulting from the demand for creation of Sadar Hills district and subsequent opposition raised by another section of the people, Opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam has asserted that the Government should find a way to bring the situation to normalcy.
Radhabinod was speaking at a felicitation function of the newly elected office bearers of NCP Youth Committee at the premises of Ibudhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba today.
Addressing the gathering, NCP State unit president Radhabinod asserted that the demands for Sadar Hills and Jiribam districts are justified.
To check influx of foreigners from Bangladesh to Jiribam, the outlying area needs an effective and complete administration.
However, despite these favourable conditions, it is not an easy task to create new districts, Radhabinod noted.
Under such circumstances, it is imperative for the Government to find a solution to the conflict between those demanding creation of new districts and those standing against such demands.
It would be a political misadventure on the part of the State Government to let the situation fester.

Stating that peace and harmony are prerequisites for development of the State, Radhabinod quoting experts and economists rued that the State loses Rs 8 crores every day due to bandhs/blockades.
Moreover, because of the bandh/blockade which started from August 1, essential commodities are quite scarce and whatever commodities available are being sold at exorbitant prices, he observed.
Exhorting the youth to work for establishment of a popular and transparent Government, Radhabinod asserted that establishment of a popular and accountable Government is intrinsically linked with politics.
To establish a popular and accountable Government, youth should fight back and give a befitting reply to those who are openly campaigning with a sinister design to buy votes with money.
It is also crucial to analyse the intention of super-rich contractors and suppliers to contest elections, Radhabinod stated.
He further exuded that the newly elected office bearers would discharge their duties without any hesitation and they would give a big impetus to election activities.
He also appealed to the youth to work sincerely and with dignity .
