Imphal, August 21 2011:
Two members of a gang who indulged in extortion from the public in the name of Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) have been pulled up by the outfit.
Parading the impostors before media persons at a location in Tamenglong district today, ZUF deputy chief Nickson said that impostors have confessed their anti-party activities and apologised for the same.
D Amuba (38) s/o Kadungangpou and D Kadumpou (46) s/o Lungkhong of Nungang village under Bishnupur police station were pulled up for extortion from the public in some areas of Bishnupur district.
PIB (D/W) claimed that D Amuba was arrested by 4/8 GR as ZUF cadre on July 16 .
But the fact is, both Amuba and Kadumpou have no connection with the ZUF in any manner.
Acting on the press statement issued by PIB (DW) about Amuba, the outfit investigated into his activities.
In the course of the investigation, it was found that Amuba and his cohorts were indulging in extortion for their personal benefits.
Nickson said that both Amuba and Kadumpou would be set free after giving them proper counselling not to indulge in such activities ever again for they have confessed and apologised for their anti-social activities.
However, they would be given exemplary punishment without any warning if they are found indulging in such activities in future.
The deputy chief further warned all individuals and groups if they are indulging in extortion in the name of ZUF or working to tarnish the image of the outfit.
