Imphal, February 15 2012:
INC candidate and political workers were not responsible for the photo mismatch which emerged in some polling stations of Wabagai A/C.It happened due to lack of technical expertise of the polling officials deputed in these polling stations, said INC candidate Md Fajur Rahim and his election agent, Md Rahimuddin.
Despite this fact, any decision taken by the Election Commission of India including repolling in these polling stations would be welcomed, they said.
Speaking to reporters, they said, following complaints of poll rigging filed by the candidates of two parties of the A/C, ECI sent three observers to check whether there were any photo mismatch in polling station number 36/1, 36/2, 36/3, 36/4, 36/5, 36/8, 36/9, 36/10, 36/13, 36/14, 36/15 .
The observers found many photo mismatches in these polling stations, they said.
However, the allegation of proxy voting of around 2500 votes by INC was baseless as the entire mess was created by the polling officials due to their incompetency, they clarified.
Indian National Congress, party candidate Md Fajur Rahim and political workers were not responsible for the goof up, they said.
INC would welcome any decision including repolling at these polling stations, they maintained.
