COVID-19 official death toll touches 322

Imphal, December 12 2020:
Two more individuals died of COVID-19 during the last 24 hours taking the official death toll to 322 .
However, the official figure is yet to reflect the death of an army Colonel and a 42-year old man from Imphal reported sometime back and a 76-year old woman who died at Shija Hospital on December 10 .
Two persons aged 70 (female, Thoubal) and 78 (male, Chandel) expired at RIMS and JNIMS during the last 24 hours, informed a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
In the meantime, 177 people including 24 personnel of CAPF were tested COVID-19 positive at JNIMS, RIMS, Imphal East, Imphal West, Swiss Clinic, CMC, Hillside Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, Escent Diagnostics, Shija Hospital, Advance Hospital, Jivan Hospital, Thoubal, Bishnupur, Senapati, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Kamjong, Kangpokpi and Babina Diagnostics.
The 153 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (70), Imphal East (40), Thoubal (10), Bishnupur (12), Kakching (1), Tamenglong (3), Ukhrul (3), Chandel (2), Kangpokpi (2), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (5) and Kamjong (2) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 116 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (5), home isolation (69), RIMS (6), JNIMS (4), CCC UNACCO (1), RD Wing (2), Shija Hospital (8), Raj Medicity (3), Kakching (8), Bal Bhavan (6), Thoubal (1) and Bishnupur (3) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 27,036 (general population 23,734 and Central security personnel 3,302) .
This figure includes 3,057 active cases (general population 2,694 and Central security personnel 363) and 23,657 discharged cases (general population 20,722 and Central security personnel 2,935) .
The recovery rate as on Saturday is 87.50 per cent.
A late report informed that out of 209 samples tested today at JNIMS, 56 were found infected by COVID-19 .
