A five point resolution was adopted at the 'Minorities Rights Day' observation jointly organised by Manipur State Minorities Commission and All Manipur Minorities Forum at GM Hall today.
The function was held with Minorities and Other Backward Classes Minister Md Alauddin and Chairperson of Manipur State Minorities Commission A Halim Choudhury as chief guest and functional president respectively.
The five point resolution pertains to demand for passing of Minorities Act/Bill, inclusion of three more members of different communities to the Commission, upgradation of MOBC Ministry to Cabinet status, setting up of minorities development and financial corporation, creation of separate minorities welfare department and constitution of committee of minorities to look into the economic problems of the minority community and suggest measures.
Addressing the gathering MOBC Minister Allauddin Khan assured that three more members would be included in the Commission and concerted effort would be made to extend benefit to minority communities under the SGSY scheme.
The Minister also informed that an agency called Minority and other Backward Economic Development had been commissioned to address problems of the minority communities.
