Difference between the Ministers/MLAs and the Panchayat members with regard to allocation of fund under Sampoorna Gramin Rojgar Yojana (SGRY) came to the fore today with Zilla Parishad members and Pradhans walking out of a joint meeting in protest.
Infuriated Zilla Parishad members and Pradhans have also resolved to boycott Deputy Commissioner and Executive Director of DRDA, Imphal East KK Chhetry from December 20 besides announcing various others agitation against the Government.
A meeting convened today at State Guest House to discuss allocation of fund to Intermediate Panchayat under SGRY scheme with DC Imphal East KK Chhetry in the chair.
But Zilla Parishad members and Pradhans walked out of the meeting when they were told by the Ministers and MLAs that only five percent of the total fund would be provided to them.
The Panchayat members walked out of the meeting after telling the Ministers and MLAs that they do not want any more fund and the institution of Panchayat be better if abolished.
The agitated Panchayat members later held a meeting at the office of Imphal East Zilla Parishad where they castigated the MLAs and the Ministers.
The meeting decided to boycott Imphal East DC and take up intense agitations from December 20.Talking to media persons after the meeting, Adhyaksha of Imphal East District Zilla parishad Mutum Babita said that India Government had sanctioned Rs 1,49,31,00 for implementation of SGRY.
Out of the total amount, 60 percent had already been released for implementation of the scheme for trie first phase.
Of the total sanctioned amount, 50 percent, ie, Rs 74,65,500 are meant for Gram Panchayat, Rs 29,86,200 for Zilla Parishad and Rs 44,79,300 for Intermediate Panchayat, she informed.
Justifying boycott of Imphal East DC, Babita said that although the officer has released Rs 29,86,200 to Zilla Parishad, the fund for Gram panchayat and Intermediate Panchayat are being withheld for the last four months.
The Officer also violated the rules in constitution of a SGRY committee and is hand in glove with the Ministers and MLAs in trying to divert the fund released, she charged.
She said that Intermediate Panchayat has been set up in all the Indian States with exception to Manipur.
