The Manipur University community has expressed deep anguish at the physical injury inflicted upon Vice Chancellor Prof N Bijoy Singh and Registrar RK Ranjan by the underground outfit KYKL.
It reaffirmed full confidence in the leadership of the VC and resolved to carry forward the development activities of the University under the leadership of Prof Bijoy Singh, sources in the varsity said.
This was decided during a joint meeting of the deans, HoDs, students and secretaries of MU, teachers, officers, staff associations held at the committee room with Prof Ksh Bimola Devi, Dean School of Social Sciences in the chair today.
The meeting also resolved to make an earnest appeal to all concerned to make the university a "terror free zone".
It also expressed its gratitude to various groups and individuals, who assisted in securing release of the VC and Registrar, the source said.
Before passing the resolution, Prof Bimola appraised the gathering of the grave situation prevailing in the University.
Meanwhile, the two senior MU officers, who received bullet wounds on their legs are being treated at the private wards of RIMS.
University staff, students, well wishers thronged the ward on hearing the news though security staff manned at the deluxe ward prevented the visitors from meeting Dr Bijoy Singh.
