TNL president likely to resign; may contest election from 43-Phungyar AC

The incumbent Tangkhul Naga Long president, Hopingson A' Shimray may resign from his presidency soon.
According to sources, Hopingson A' Shimray may submit his resignation letter to the vice president of TNL in order to prepare for contesting in the upcoming Manipur State General Election 2022.As per the constitution of TNL, once the resignation letter reaches TNL office, the vice president would convene a TNL Executive body meeting within 10 days, and the decision of the executive would be forwarded to TNL Assembly Speaker in order to conduct an emergency assembly.
Once the president seat is vacated, re-election has to be conducted within three months in order to fill the vacant post.
Hopingson is likely to contest from 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency in the ensuing election in order to serve the people by participation in popular politics and bring tangible development in the region.
It might be mentioned that Hopingson after his retirement from his service, has been actively involved in the electoral politics and was one of the intending candidates from Phungyar Assembly constituency in 2017 .
