Mao police traces missing labourer

Senapati, August 31 2021:
A worker engaged by BIPL road construction agency, who went missing around August 29 midnight, was traced on Tuesday morning after an intensive search by Mao Police and local villagers.
The worker has been identified as Yumnam Romesh (30), son of Yumnam Ibocha of Thiyam Leishangkhong Wangoi, Imphal.
He is said to be mentally unstable.
According to a missing report filed by one Oinam Sanjoy Singh, the wdrker ran away from the BIPL camp located along NH-129/A Maram-Peren road near New Magaimei in Maram.
Mao Police under the supervision of OC Jonah Chawang and sub inspector Solomon Lamhingba swung into action, searching nearby jungles and localities using loud speakers, social media and missing notice in the area.
In spite of all efforts, the missing person could not be traced till August 30.However, some villagers on their way to paddy field spotted him and informed Mao Police who managed to locate him.
He was found in an exhausted condition, and Wandering around in nude in the jungle, some 3 km below the NH-129/A when he was spotted by some local farmers.
The police search team took him to District Hospital Senapati DHQ where he was given medical checkup and later handed over to his family members.
Meanwhile, Mao Police has thanked New Magaimei villagers for their support in searching the missing person.
