Mao Police find missing person after intensive search at Maram-Peren road

Senapati, August 31 2021:
A worker engaged by BIPL road construction agency who went missing on August 29 was fortunately found today after an intensive search by police and local villagers.
The person was identified as Yumnam Romesh, aged 30 years s/o Yumnam Ibocha of Thiyam Leishangkhong , Wangoi, Imphal.
According to a missing report filed by one Oinam Sanjoy Singh, the victim escaped around midnight from the BIPL camp located along NH-129/A Maram-Peren road near New Magaimei in Maram.
The Mao police under OC Jonah Chawang and Sub-Inspector Solomon Lamhingba flung into action searching nearby surrounding jungles and localities using loudspeakers, social media and missing notice in the area.
In spite of all efforts, the missing person could not be traced till the night of August 30 .
However, some local villagers on their way to the paddy field spotted him and informed Mao police who managed to locate him exhausted and tired.
He was reportedly found naked going around in the jungle aimlessly some 3 km below the NH-129/A, when he was spotted by some local farmers.
SI Solomon, SI Kaihrii and a police team took the victim to District Hospital Senapati DHQ where he was given a medical check up and later handed over to his family members.
Meanwhile, Mao police extended its appreciation to the New Magaimei villagers for their assistance in the search for the missing person.
