'Mironbising gi khudol' organised at Maram PHC

A special initiative Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) programme 'mironbising gi khudol" was organised by Primary Health Centre Maram at PHC Maram on September 25 .
PMSMA was launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India with the aim to provide assured, comprehensive and quality antenatal care, free of cost, universally to all pregnant women on the 9th of every month.
The occasion was graced by Deputy Director, Public Health and State Nodal Officer (maternal health/PMSMA), Dr Meena Seram; District Immunization Officer, District Health Society Senapati, Dr Ngouniba Peter and OBGY specialist, Managing director, ACME fertility and Health Care Centre, Dr James Elangbam as presidium members.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Meena Seram said that under the PMSMA programme various services would be given to pregnant women for safe delivery, child care, check pregnancy related complications, diet, etc.
She stated that there are 15 PMSMA volunteer doctors in the valley area, out of which Dr James Elangbam is one of the most active.
"PMSMA programme would clear many misconceptions related to pregnancy and delivery while adding that .
PMSMA is also working in association with social welfare for nutritive food", she added.
The doctor also informed that under PMMVY scheme every pregnant woman would get Rs.5,000.Dr James Elangbam in his address highlighted the various benefits of the PMSMA programme for pregnant women and other necessary steps to care during pregnancy.
Babytim, Social and Behaviour Change Communications, State consultant, UNICEF on covid-19 vaccination of pregnant and lactating women; Dr Elizebeth, Senapati District Hospital, CDPO Senapati also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, registration of pregnant women and enrolment of PMMVY beneficiaries, lab investigation, history and examination, BP measurement, display of nutritious food for pregnant women in collaboration with social welfare department, ANC OPD, yoga exercise, counselling and distribution of medicines were conducted.
More than 100 pregnant women availed the facility on the day.
It may be mentioned that PMSMA guarantees a minimum package of antenatal care services to women in their 2nd/3rd trimesters of pregnancy at designated Government health facilities.
The programme follows a systematic approach for engagement with the private sector which includes motivating private practitioners to volunteer for the campaign; developing strategies for generating awareness and appealing to the private sector to participate in the Abhiyan at Government health facilities.
