CM holds talk with JAC; protest to continue

Chief Minister N Biren on Sunday held talks with representatives of the JAC formed in connection with the killing of Athuan Abonmai.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem examination on the body of Abonmai has been scheduled on Monday, while the JAC has announced that it will continue to agitate until their demands are met.
Addressing a press meet in this regard at the residence of the deceased at Tarung Grace Colony on Sunday, JAC convenor Majabung informed that after the CM invited the JAC for talks, its representatives attended the meeting at the CM Secretariat around 11 am.
During the meeting, the JAC informed that it will continue the agitations until their demands are fulfilled.
In response, the CM in formed that process has been initiated to allow NIA to investigate the case and that the post mortem examination would be conducted on Monday.
However, the JAC still maintained that it will continue to agitate and refused to claim the body even if the post mortem examination is conducted, he conveyed.
As part of the agitations, a sit-in protest was staged in front of Grace Academy, Tarung on Sunday.
The JAC also announced that sit-in protests will be staged in various places of the state on Monday, while cautioning of imposing bandhs along the national highways, as announced earlier.
