Adult literacy programme kicks off

Imphal, September 26 2021:
Education Minister S Rajen Singh inaugurated an 'Adult Literacy Programme' jointly organised by Rotary Club of Imphal and Department of Adult Education to promote adult literacy in the State.
Learning materials, mats, hearing aids and walking sticks were distributed to about 60 adults who will be participating in the adult literacy programme for atleast 90 days to make them able to read and write, said a statement issued by Rotary Club of Imphal.
6 volunteer teachers had been already given training at SCERT Manipur under the sponsorship of Department of Adult Education to impart training at the programme which is being organised as a part of Rotary India Literacy Mission, added the statement.

The inaugural program was also attended by M Harekrishna, commissioner (Education); Devkumar Thoudam, president, Rotary Club of Imphal; Dr M Chourjit Singh, CLCC and Ibochouba Singh, assistant director as presidium members.
In another instance, the 46th Rotary on the Spot Painting Competition, 2021 was organised today at Rotary Bhavan in Mantripukhri.
The competition was organised as a part of vocational service of Rotary Club of Imphal under the them 'Education is our backbone', said another statement issued by Rotary Club of Imphal.
Daulas Lambamayum (St George School), Presila Heikrujam (KV Lamphelpat) and Martin Tongbram (Pitambara English School) secured first, second and third ranks respectively while Juliana Thoidingjam (KV Lamphelpat), Lanleima Sinam (Ramakrishna Mission School) and Toijam Ghanashyam (Bal Vidya Mandir) won consolation prizes.
Prizes will be distributed at the 50th Club Foundation day celebration, added the statement.
