Imphal, September 26 2021:
The Machengluang Village Authority (MVA) has also joined the voice of protest and strongly condemned the brutal killing of Athuan Abonmai.
Machengluang is the native village of the late Athuan Abonmai.
In a statement, the village authority stated that Athuan was a tall and visionary leader from the village who contributed immensely for the Zeliangrong community living across the States of North East India and towards Naga cause in many ways.
Stating that Abonmai was murdered in the most gruesome and cruel manner that is not expected in any civilised society, the MVA urged the Government to bring justice by arresting the culprits.
The village authority appreciated the CSOs which are working in different ways to bring justice.
As a civilised citizen, he (Athuan Abonmai) strongly believed in civilised discussion to bring solution to any issue rather than threat, violence and killing, said MVA.
Saying that Athuan Abonmai was abducted from the pologround in the midst of tight security and taken towards Tamei in a white Gypsy, the statement narrated that the mothers of the village blocked the road to rescue him.
As expected, the vehicle took an U turn on seeing the crowd and went back towards Tamenglong, it said and claimed that the villagers searched the suspected area without the help of police or assistance from the Government.
Later, the body of Athuan Abonmai was found at Pallong village, it said.
