UARSoM urges Govt to formulate SOPs for reopening schools

The apex body of all recognized schools in the 16 districts of the State, the United Association of Recognized Schools of Manipur (UARSoM) convened a crucial executive meeting today at Elite Higher Secondary School, Kangpokpi District Headquarters in connection with the prolonged closure of schools and the New Education Policy 2021.In a press conference held after the meeting, L Joy, president UARSoM said, "we have extensively discussed two important agendas, firstly the prolonged closure of schools and the impact upon the student community and the way forward on reopening the schools" .
"Secondly, we have also discussed the newly introduced New Education Policy 2021 during the meeting", he added.

He stated that after extensive deliberation on the two agendas, the meeting decided to urge the State Government to formulate SOPs for early reopening of schools considering the COVID situation in the State and bring back normalcy in the education sector.
L Joy also mentioned that to understand the New Education Policy, a State-level workshop on the new education policy 2021 would be held at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the general secretary of the association, Seikhojam Kipgen said, "As the COVID situation has dramatically improved, various States in the country have started reopening the school in their respective States and as we also observed the COVID situation in our State has almost come to normalcy, we consider its time to reopen our schools which have been closed for a prolonged period considering the impact on the children".
He continued that the prolonged closure of schools in the State has seriously affected the students and their future are at stake now while appealing to the State Government to look into the matter and take immediate action.
The executive body meeting of UARSoM was held following strict COVID protocols.
