Timely intervention by the police prevented a large number of Meira paibis of Imphal East District from demolishing the house of proprietor of Hotel Mohori K Ranjit at Wangkhei today.
Ranjit has been accused of encouraging immoral activities and supplying drugs from his hotel located behind Mapal Kangjeibung of Imphal following the death of a commercial sex worker at his hotel yesterday.
Infuriated meira paibis gathered at the Wangkhei Yonglan Leirak residence of Ranjit at around 3 pm today.
They demanded that Ranjit should be handed over to them.
But timely arrival of a team of Imphal East District Police controlled the agitated mob and reinforcement of security personnel called in to keep vigil around the house of Ranjit to ensure no untoward incident occurred.
Meanwhile, the real identify of the commercial sex worker (CSW) who died after taking drugs at Hotel Mohori yesterday has been established.
According to her family members, she left home some two years and her whereabouts had not been known till they received information that she was to give birth and her mother found her staying at Hatta area.
The boy child she had given birth died some one and half months back.
The father of the child is from Pangong near Baruni Chingkhong.
Her body was handed over to the family members after a post-mortem conducted at RIMS Hospital today.
None of her in-laws turned up.
The four other CSWs who brought her to the hospital for treatment and later arrested by the police were produced in the court before releasing them today.
The raid conducted by the police at Hotel Mohori today reportedly led to recovery of condoms and empty covers of SP tablets.
Hotel Mohori has been sealed indefinitely by AMADA.
