Imphal, November 29:
The five MSF leaders detained under NSA in connection with the agitation demanding proper and regular classes for aided college students following prolonged cease work stir undertaken by the teachers in pursuit of several demands were released today without any condition.
The MSF volunteers released today after being lodged in Sajiwa jail for several days included its vice-president Md Ataudin of Thoubal Moijing, assistant organising secretary Ksh Rishikanta of Soibam Leikai, president of MSF Imphal West District Council Laishram Gojendro of Babupara, ex vice-president Laishram Ibomcha of Wangkhei and ex-assistant secretary Ningthoujam Leishemba of Yairipok.
Following their release today at around 4.15 pm, MSF president S Sanjoy has declared revocation of all the agitation and restrictions it had imposed to protest the detention of the student leaders.
On their release, the MSF leaders were accorded a warm reception just outside the Sajiwa jail premises by representatives of several Meira Paibi organisations and volunteers of the student body.
Later they were brought to MSF office at Assembly Road where they shared sweets and snacks with MSF volunteers and Meira Paibis.
Speaking on the occasion, MSF president S Sanjoy told reporters that since August 6 this year aided college teachers launched several kinds of agitation in pursuit of their demands which was supported by MSF.
Instead of addressing their demands, the State Government arrested student activists and concentrated on searching the students activists to put them behind bars.
In response MSF intensified its agitation and demanded unconditional release of the arrested students.
The agitation included sealing of Government Departments, confiscation of official files and documents, burning of confiscated files, prohibition of Government vehicles, 36 hour State wide general strike and finally sabotaging activities of the Congress party, recalled Sanjoy.
He also conveyed gratitude to all social organisations and student bodies which extended support in the three month long protest movements of MSF.
Saying that MSF has been striving for a quality educational system in the State and would continue to strive for it, he appealed to the State Govt to redress all education related issues.
He further asserted that the State Government should be held accountable for the untoward incidents and loss suffered during the three month long agitation under-taken by MSF.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the All Manipur Govet Aided Colleges Coordinating Committee has hailed the unconditional release of the five MSF leaders detained under NSA for the last many days.
