Even as Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at the New Delhi in connection with the proposed visit of the latter to the State on December 2, the State Chief Secretary chaired a joint meeting attended by top officials of civil and security forces here at the State capital today to review the arrangement being made for the Prime Minister's visit.
According to an official source, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh called on Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at around 5 pm today and discussed the forthcoming visit of the latter to Manipur.
The Chief Minister might have also urged the Prime Minister to announce an economic packages for the development of Manipur during the meeting, the source added.
Back home, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh presided over a joint meeting of the top officials of the civil and the security forces in the mini conference hall of the Old Secretariat here at 4 pm today.
The meeting reviewed the arrangements being made in connection with the forthcoming visit of the Prime Minister to Imphal on December 2.Apart from the tentative programmes of the Prime Minister's visit being worked out by the State Government, it is not confirmed whether the august visitor will stay overnight at Imphal or not.
Along with addressing a public meeting at Kangla, laying the foundation stones of National Sports Academy, Manipur Institute of Technology and Cultural cum City Convention Centre and Loktak Multipurpose Downstream project are among the programmes worked out tentatively by the State Government.
However, it is likely that the Prime Minister would not be going to Parbung to lay the foundation stone of the controversial Tipaimukh Multipurpose Project.
Arrangements are being made for laying the foundation stone of the same at Tuiboung in Churachandpur district where he is also expected to address another public meeting.
Though the Prime Minister's Office has not yet revealed out the details of the itinerary of the Prime Minister's visit, a 45-strong team of personnel of Special Protection Group (SPG) led by its DIG had already arrived at the State capital yesterday for the security coverage of the Prime Minister during his forthcoming visit on December 2.
