The 14th anniversary of All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Lup was observed by organising a function at the premises of Laningthou Khamlangba Mandop today.
Former principal of DM College of Commerce Dr Ch Jamini Devi and president of All Manipur Tammi-Chingmi Apunba Lup Soibam Ongbi Momon Devi graced the function as chief guest and president respectively.
Kuki Mothers' Association president Rose Mangsi Haokip, president of Kabui Mothers' Association president Kakumlunglung Kamei and All Manipur Social Reformation and Development Samaj president K Taruni Devi were also present during the function as guests of honour.
Giving the key note address of the function, secretary of All Manipur Chingmi-Tammi Apunba Lup Thiyam Nalini Devi said the Lup was established in 1993 at a critical juncture when Manipuri society was in turmoil with the main objective of contributing its mite in fighting for the cause of deprived people and save the youths from falling prey to drugs and other intoxicants.
The Lup would continue to fight for various issues confronting the Manipuri society in future, she pledged.
Speaking at the occasion, president of Meetei Leimarol Sinnai Sang president MC Rita said the role of Manipuri women in the society has been of paramount important since time immemorial and they have played dicisive role in various social movements.
So the present generation of women should not try to anything that might destroy the image of the Manipuri womenfolks and make the people lost faith reposed on the Manipuri women, she said.
Stating that Government of India has passed an Act to stop domestic violence, she said there is the need on the part of all the people in Manipur to understand the provisions given in the Act so as the same is not misused.
