Emphasising on the importance of education and its related activities for the development of society, Education Minister L Nandakumar has appealed to all concerned to restrain from disturbing the academic atmosphere of the State while pursuing any of their demands.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of newly constructed main building, library block, science block and students' hostel of Tamphasana Girls' Higher Secondary School today, Nandakumar said that the standard of educational institutions have improved a lot from what they were earlier in term of infrastructures and materials.
However, participation of students from the State in the National level examination and other competitions is still very low.
While pointing out that students have a important role to play for the State to move forward and join in the race for development, the Minister called upon the students to understand their responsibilities and work toward achieving their set targets.
The Minister said the students should not be blinded by their emotion and target educational institutions in pursuance of their demands.
Because it is Manipuri society as a whole which would suffer for the destruction caused to the educational institutions.
Moreover, calling of frequent strikes and bandhs by every sundry organisations as pressure tactics over one demand or the other give a serious impact the students.
So every possible efforts should be made not to disrupt the prevailing academic atmosphere, he said.
PDA chairman R Ranjit, who presided over the function also reiterated that the destruction caused to the educational institutions is a loss for the whole society.
Power Minister Francis Ngajokpa was also present and spoke at the occasion as guest of honour.
The construction of the main building, science and library block and students' hostel which have been inaugurated was started by PDA in July 2005 with funding from Directorate of Education, Government of Manipur.
The total estimated cost of the work is said to be Rs 1.55 crores, sixty-seven thousands and seventy-eight.
MITEX-2006: The Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), Imphal SubCentre would be organising the Manipur Information Technology Exposition cum seminar, more popularly known as MITEX for three days at Imphal with effect from December 7 to 9.The theme for MITEX-2006 is 'ICT-prospects, strategies and security aspects in North East'.
Governor Dr SS Sidhu would be inaugurating the seminar as chief guest and panels of speakers/experts drawn from different fields would be participating in it as resource persons.
The main objective of organising MITEX is to promote/provide a forum for meaningful interaction of professionals, technocrats, engineers, educationists and students on the selective theme and put forward the penal recommendation to the Government for further necessary actions.
MITEX is a regular activity of the Institute held every year on different themse of emerging ICT.
