Imphal, November 29:
Bundles of official files belonging to the Manipur State Social Welfare Board located right behind the State Library which was burnt down by MEELAL were set afire by three unidentified women today at around 4 pm.
According to information received from the spot, the files were kept at the room of one Lourembam Nimai who works as a stenographer.
Altogether 19 bundles of files were set afire but fortunately the files were not totally reduced to ashes.
The damaged files belonged to local clubs and social organisations.
The files were reportedly set afire by the three women after sneaking into the office taking advantage of the few employees staying outside while most of the employees had left the office as the office hour was almost over.
The office was manned by two baton wielding Home Guards.
Even as information of the fire was given to Fire Service by the son of the chowkidar running on foot, the fire was doused by people staying nearby.
