Raitu Chawang wishes on 90th Martyr Day of Haipou Jadonang

Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) Chairman, Raitu Chawang on the eve of the 90th death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang honoured and saluted the brave soul who was martyred for standing against the colonial rule of the British.
Raitu Chawang said, "I on behalf of ZUF beseech Zeliangrong people's prayers so that lasting peace and blessings may dawn upon Zeliangrong.
ZUF humbly and sincerely pray that we Zeliangrong look up to God at this crucial juncture for He alone is the truth and answer to all our issues and causes" .
A press release issued by Hozam Thaimei, secretary Ministry of Information & Publicity, ZUF, stated that Jadonang envisaged the future Naga Raj and led the freedom struggle accordingly.
Jadonang, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's non-cooperation approach, took a similar non-cooperative stance against the British official, which led to his arrest.
Upon his release from jail, he changed approach to galvanized masses through cultural revivalism and writings.
It was the violent incident and death of a political agent of Manipur that led to Jadonang arrest at Cachar, and finally on August 29, 1931 he was hanged at Imphal central jail.
Although his journey was short lived, yet the legacy he left behind is immense and a source of inspiration for many, it added.
ZUF appealed to the Zeliangrong youth to follow the path of bravery, conviction, principled as shown by the great leader Haipou Jadonang while reiterating that it shall strive for the unity and welfare of Zeliangrong people.
ZUF further stated that the front as a member of NNPG Working Committee shall give support to the 7th NNPG Working Committee for early solution.
