Fitting tributes paid to Jadonang on death anniversary

The Zeliangrong people observed the 91st death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang at his birthplace Puiluanh (Kambiron) village, Noney district, today.
Speaking as chief guest at the observance, Kakching DC, D Gangmei said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Biren Singh have advocated observing Haipou Jadonang birth and death anniversary in every district of Manipur.
He also reminded the gathering about the contribution made by Prof Meijinlung Kamson and late Prof Gangmumei Kamei for the Zeliangrong people.
Stating that Puiluanh is a blessed village, the DC expressed hope that more people like Haipou Jadonang will come 'from our community to bring forward a progressive society in our community' .

Ajang Longmei, president Zeliangrong Union (AMN) president also stated that the State Government, recognising the contribution of freedom fighter Jandonang, had established Jadonang Memorial Park and a statue was installed under his name in Imphal city.
D Gangmei, on the other hand, attended the Jadonang final football trophy as chief guest at Nungba Headquarters, Noney district.
In his speech, he stated, 'We must strive and work together for the well being and upliftment of our people and society as our freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang had done in his days' .
Traditional dance and songs were also performed during the program.
Executive members of Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur, Nagaland) as well as the people of the valley paid homage by offering floral tributes and performing rituals at the Zadonang Park, Imphal.
Prof Meijinlung Kamsom, ex-Union Home Minister of State and Chairman of Zeliangrong Cultural Council (ZCC) also appealed the Zelianrong people to light a candle at their house as a sign of respect to Haipou Jadonang.
Zeliangrong Union, Kabui Mothers' Association (KAMA) ADC members of Nungnang and Khoupum, social workers, village authority and youth leaders of Puiluanh (Kambiron) village attended the death anniversary.
