Today, we observe and commemorate the day of Jadonang's martyrdom, with a deep sense of tribute and also resentment for the unrewarded or discredited death unusual to humane world.
His sacrificial death was kept in silence for almost a century with no sufficient deserving recognition made by the government of India till date.
He died fighting the foes of India like any freedom fighters of India equal in all counts and points.
Yet he was left out and ignored...," he said in a press release issued by the Front.
The ZUF chairman also expressed happiness over the release of the book "The People's Sentinel' in commemoration of Haipou Jadonang Martyrdom Day and thanked Pastor Adin Newmai, Zeliangrong Christian Fellowship (ZCF) Shillong, Meghalaya for dedicating the book, which the ZUF leader hoped, "will give a brighter light on the path of our struggle and readers will better understand the perspective of Zeliangrong United Front.
That we are holding and taking the legacy of our people's political aspiration forward" .
Meanwhile, ZUF chairman Raitu Chawang, in his message to the people in connection with the 90th death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang, said that Jadonang joined the non cooperation movement of Mahatma Gandhi and fought for Independence against the British colonial rule.
Raitu also recalled that Jadonang was hanged to death on August 29, 1931 in connection with the death of the Manipur political agent at Cachar.
Though he didn't live long, his activities have inspired and encouraged many people.
So, the Zeliangrong people should walk on the road path shown by freedom fighter Haipou Jadonang and should never retreat, the chairman continued.
Raitu also announced that in order to break the impasse, ZUF, which is a part of NNPG working committee, will support the 7th NNPG working committee.
