The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has accused the SPF Government of befooling the people of Manipur with regard to the removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act,1958.ANSAM vice president Ngachonmi Chamroy said that it was in the election manifesto of the SPF Government, which promised to remove the Disturbed Area status from Manipur but after coming to power the SPF Government has forgotten the its promised to the people.
Chamroy said that the Naga students body would start agitating in the hill areas of Manipur within two days time against the AFSPA.
The student leader said that black flags would be put up in various places of the hill areas as per resolutions passed by NESO to agitate against the AFSPA.
He further said that it was the Manipur Government which should first remove the Disturbed Area status from the State so as to make room for New Delhi to remove the AFSPA from the state.
"Unless the State Government removes the DAA the Centre cannot remove the AFSPA", said the ANSAM vice president.
Meanwhile, the All Tribals Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) has expressed its fury over the ways Th Manorama and the Saichang village pastor were killed by the security forces.
ATSUM said that AFSPA had been served as a nightmare to the people of Manipur.
