Thangjam ongbi Khumanlei, mother of the deceased Manorama, who is one of the key witnesses in the ongoing State sponsored judicial probe, could not appear in person before the panel owing to her ailment.
Khumanlei is alleged to have been assaulted physically by personnel of 17 Assam Rifles during the arrest of Manorama in the night of July 11.Following complaints of pain on her body, Khumanlei was recently rushed to hospital for medical check up but is now undergoing treatment at her Bamon Kampu Mayai Leikai residence.

This being the case, the panel is considering whether a representative of the panel would officially examine the ailing mother or wait till she recovers, a highly place source in the panel told The Sangai Express.
