Many social organisations have resolved to intensify the ongoing agitation for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur even as condemnation against extra-judicial killing of Th Manorama by 17 Assam Rifles personnel and the repressive measures adopted by the Government to quelled public movement continue to pour in from all over.
In a statement, titular King of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba today said that a detailed reports on the excesses being committed by security personnel on the people of Manipur with immunity granted under Armed Forces Special Powers Act would be submitted to President of India, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister.
Coming out strongly against the repressive measures being adopted by the State Government to quelled movement public, Sanajaoba pointed out that adoption of such measures with complete disregard to public sentiments are not signs of good governance.
Zeliangrong United Clubs� Association, Manipur Valley (ZUCAMV) has condemned the arbitrary and dictatorial action of the Congress led SPF Government in consigning the mortal remains of Th Manorama to flames without the consent and approval of the bereaved family members as well as the agitating public.
This very act has confirmed that the State Government is siding with the wrong doers even as the Army authorities are trying to disposed off the case.
ZUCAMV also appealed to all the people and organisations of Zeliangrong Community to take part in the proposed protest rally on July 29 for removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from Manipur.
Meanwhile, All Manipur College Teachers� Association; Manipur Hindi Parishad, Imphal; Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Manipur Pradesh; People�s Platform Secretariat (PPS), Minuthong Hatta; Kanglei Meetei Mayek Sandokpa Apunba Lup, Langmeidong; Self Employment Youth Financial Institute, Kwakeithel; Mahabali Peikai, Imphal; Kishan and Industry Development Organisation, Laipham Khu- nou Maning Leikai; Nam-dunlong Peikai, Stadium Road; Netaji Memorial Club, Khurai Kongpal Tinsid Road; Kangleipak Loinasilon Apunba Marup, RIMS Road Imphal; Manipur Young Association, Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai; AISF, Moirang Zonal Council; Khathong Youth Club; Kawi Nagamapal Women�s Nishaband (Meira Paibi) Association among others have also demanded revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur.
On the other hand, North Imphal United Clubs and meira Paibees� Organisation, Zeliangrong Union, DESAM Kongba Local Council, MSF Kongba Branch and AMSU Kongba Branch, MAFYF Tera Branch and Khaidem Golden Youth Club have announced their unflinching support and co-operation to the proposed protest rally on July 29.
