Atleast 63 residential houses have been damaged and over 75 paris of paddy fields have been eroded in Toribari, Songpekjang, Maohing Nepali and Mukuli villages under Toribari Gram Panchayat following heavy landslides at various points.
According to reports received by the press, the affected villagers are mostly farmers and facing lost of hardships as there is no community hall around to shelter them.
The problem of the people has been further compounded as 3km stretch of the road leading to Tamei has been cut off in the natural calamity for the last 15 days.
Meanwhile, pradhan of Toribari Gram Panchayat, in a statement has expressed gratitude to concerned Ministers and MLAs Francis Ngajokpa, Ngamthang Haokip, Thangminlein Kipgen and to organisations like Kangpokpi Town Committee; Kangpokpi Youth Club, Kangpokpi Women�s Society; NGYC Charhajare; MGW, Motbung; MYC Upper Charhajare; Deputy Commissioner of Senapati and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi for having extended financial assistance and relief materials to the landslide victims.
