JAC inks pact with Govt

Following an agreement reached with the Government, the JAC against the killing of Md Neimuddin has lifted its 48-hour general strike today.
Representatives of the JAC met the Chief Minister today around 3.30 pm at the CM's office, said a statement issued by the JAC.
Prior to the meeting, Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary Md Amin Shah and MLA Md Fazur Rahim met the CM on the matter.
The CM assured the JAC representatives to conduct an enquiry against the SDPO of Kakching and his team, who were allegedly responsible for the killing of Md Neimuddin, at the earliest, the JAC statement said.
He also reportedly assured fitting punishment against any one found guilty in the enquiry.
The meeting also agreed to release all individuals arrested in connection with the incident unconditionally.
The JAC also agreed to claim the dead body, the statement said.
The JAC further decided to call off its agitation for the time being while also stating that the same would be resumed if the Govt fails fulfil its assurance on time.
