Anganwadi workers hit the road

Kanggui, July 23 2013:
A massive silent protest rally was organized by Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Kangpokpi Centre here today.
More than 700 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under ICDS/CDPO Kangpokpi and their supporters took part in the massive rally , which was taken out to press the demand for clearance of 14 months' due honorarium by the State Government.
Recently, Social Welfare Minister AK.
Mirabai has assured to clear the honorarium for 5 (five) months only.
But the aggrieved Anganwadi workers and Helpers across the State have rejected payment of honorarium for just 5 months.
The protestors started congregating at Brig.
Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi since 10:30 am and the rally was finally flagged off at around 11 am.

From there, they proceeded towards ICDS/CDPO office near Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council office.
They were supposed to hand over a memorandum to the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), who unfortunately was not attending the office today.
Thus, the protestors were compeled to handover the memorandum to the supervisor.
From the office of ICDS/CDPO, the silent protestors continue their rally towards Addl.
Deputy Commissioner Office where they handed over a memorandum to SDC, Headquarter since the Addl.
Deputy Commissioner was not present due some official works at Imphal.
The protestors also handed over another memorandum to be forwarded to AK.
Mirabai, Social Welfare Minister, as well as the Director of Social Welfare.
The SDC, Headquarters, who received the memorandum on behalf of the Addl.
Deputy Commissioner assured the protestors that the copy of their memorandum would surely reach to the Minister and concerned officer by tomorrow.
In the memorandum submitted to Social Welfare Minister and others concerned designated officers, the aggrieved Anganwadi Workers and Helpers lodged strong protest against non-payment.
