Imphal, July 23 2013:
Students and parents who are in favour of conducting the State Pre-Medical Test (PMT) stormed the office of Directorate of Health Services, Manipur located at Lamphelpat today.
About 100 students and their parents took out a protest rally demanding the health authorities to conduct the MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination at the earliest in the aftermath of Supreme Court's verdict quashing the validity of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) .
Some of the protestors sneaked into the office of Health Directorate when the protest rally reached Lamphelpat.
The students then entered into three rooms of the Directorate building and scattered all official files kept there.
They even tried to storm the office chamber of Health Director Dr A Bijoy situated in the first floor of the building, but they were blocked by the escort personnel.

After some confrontation with the security personnel, one parent and two students from among the protestors were invited to have talks with the Director.
The talks went on for about 30 minutes.
Later, a team of Lamphel Police arrived at the Directorate office and dispersed the agitators.
Talking to media persons, Secretary of All Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians Association Arun Kangjam said that the Supreme Court has even invalidated holding of one common entrance test for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate MBBS/BDS courses.
The State Government should follow the Supreme Court's order and conduct the entrance test as soon as possible, he demanded.
He further said that the Government should not do anything that could spark off serious crisis in the State.
The Association suspects some hidden agenda in the inability of State Cabinet to take a concrete decision on State PMT, Arun added.
Meanwhile, Director of Health Services Dr A Bijoy told the students and guardians that the State Cabinet's decision would be final to settle the controversial issue of holding the State PMT or not.
