Sora JAC signs pact, agrees to lift bandh

Imphal, July 23 2013:
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) seeking justice in the killing of 12-year-old Neimuddin, a native of Sora in Thoubal district few days ago, has lifted its 48 hours bandh midway following an agreement reached between it and the State Government today.
At 3 pm on Tuesday, the members of JAC, MinisterAbdul Nasir and Parliamentary Secretary Amin Shah met Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on the killing of the boy.
As per the agreement, the state government will investigate into the role of Kakching police station SDPO and his team in the death of the boy and give befitting punishment if they were found guilty.
It was also agreed upon that all the injured persons during the intense agitation will be given assistance by the Government.
Following this development, the JAC has announced that its agitation has been lifted at 6 pm today.
The dead body of the boy which is still lying at RIMS morgue will be taken by the family members at 9 am on Wednesday.
