Anganwadi workers hold silent rally

A massive silent protest rally was held by Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Kangpokpi Centre here today against non-payment of 14 months honorarium.
More than 700 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under ICDS/CDPO Kangpokpi took part in the massive silent protest rally in protest against the non-payment of 14 months due honorarium by the State Government and the recent assurance of AK Mirabai, Social Welfare Minister to clear the honorarium for 5 (five) months only.
Protestors in large number gathered at Brig Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi.
The protestors marched towards ICDS/CDPO office.
They handed over a memorandum to the Child Development Project Officer in absentia through a Supervisor.
The protestors then marched towards Addl Deputy Commissioner Office and handed over a memorandum to Social Welfare Minister, AK Mirabai as well as the Director of Social Welfare Department through the SDC.
In the memorandum submitted to Social Welfare Minister and others concerned designated officers, the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under ICDS/CDPO Kangpokpi lodged their protest against the non-payment of 14 months due honorarium by the State Government and the recent assurance of AK Mirabai, Social Welfare Minister to clear the honorarium for 5 (five) months only.
They also demand their due honorariums for complete 14 months and asked the CDPO Kangpokpi to deposit the same in their respective Bank Account while warning that they will not accept or draw their honorariums by any other means.
In the meantime, they also warned of launching "No Pay No Work" agitation if the concerned authority ignores their humble entreaty.
While speaking among the massive silent protestors, Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association Kangpokpi Centre president L Nemvah said that the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, Manipur and also other district Associations will be shortly intimated for further course of agitation if the Govt fails to fulfil the demand at the earliest.
