Election unacceptable, claim Maring bodies

Several Maring bodies - Maring Uparup Assembly (MUA), Maring Students' Union (MSU) and Maring Napuiya Yinglam (MNY) have said that the re-election of chairman of ADC Chandel on Sept 14 at Imphal was 'undemocratic' and 'unacceptable' .
In a joint statement, the Maring bodies strongly condemned the alleged step-motherly treatment meted out to Chandel district.
The Maring bodies said they only recognise the election of KSM Mathew Maring as the ADC chairman on Sept 9 at Chandel.
It accused the State Govt of resorting to delaying tactics in the formation of Chandel ADC so that the Congress party may form the council.
They also demanded the resignation of Tengnoupal AC MLA, DK Korungthang from his post for his alleged involvement in the plot.
MUA, MSU and MNY will not tolerate running of ADC office from Imphal like in the previous term, the statement said while urging the three ADC members from Maring tribe to understand the political aspirations of the people of Chandel district.
