Imphal, September 15 2015:
The recent spate of rains and landslides near Indo-Myanmar border in the Khengjoy Block of Chandel district has done a lot of devastation to the locals.
Roads have been washed away by the landslides which affected the connectivity in the region.
The daily routine works of the local people have also remained paralysed and kept isolated from the rest of the State.
Sensing the urgency of the situation, requisite remedial steps were undertaken by 4 Assam Regiment of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) .
The troops of the unit were engaged in the relief efforts and toiled hard with locals in clearing the road connecting Khenjoy and Moldenom on September 14 .
The unit also organised a medical camp to provide immediate medical assistance to the locals and veterinary cover to the affected cattle.
As part of ongoing relief operation, 4 Assam Regiment has been at the forefront in the Khengjoy Sub-Division.
