Short course on integrated farming system kicks off

Imphal, September 15 2015:
A 10-day long short course on "Integrated farming system: an approach towards livelihood security and natural resource conservation" began on Tuesday at the Conference Hall of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Lamphel.
The progamme is jointly organised by ICAR for North Eastern Hill Region Manipur Centre, Imphal under the sponsorship of Division of Agriculture Education, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.
Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur Director K Kipgen attended the opening function as chief guest, Commanding Officer, 512 SSTC, GREF Col CJ Rego as guest of honour, Senior Scientist, Fisheries and Joint Director in-charge Dr Ch Basudha Devi as president while Joint Director, ICAR-Tripura Centre Dr M Dutta attended as special guest.
Speaking on the occasion, K Kipgen said that the integrated farming system has emerged as one of the important technologies not only for improving the food, livelihood and security for the poor famers, but also for adapting and mitigating measures for climate change.
Meanwhile, many eminent scientists, assistant professors, programme coordinators and subject matter specialists from various institutions in the Country will be attending as resource persons in this short course.
