Ukhrul, September 15 2015:
Rajpal Khokhar, the newly elected president of Hindu Samaj, Ukhrul district, has declined to accept the post of president of Ukhrul district Hindu Samaj on the ground that the election was held unconstitutionally.
Moreover the election was unilaterally conducted by a few vested person without any prior information.
Khokhar said that the election was conducted in his absence and without his consent, which was in violation of the Constitutional norms of the Samaj.
My election is not acceptable, he asserted.
Their intention was only to create rift and mislead the Hindu community living in a small compact area of the district.
He further urged the Hindu community of the district to re-organize the election process and make it more systematic in order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding amongst the Hindus settled in Ukhrul district.
Election should be conducted in a fair manner, where majority of the Samaj members should give their assent to the elected president.
The president is to be the guardian of the community and lead the people without discrimination, he added.
Until the whole Hindu community of Ukhrul district exercise their rights in the election process, no one can claim to be the president, he added.
It is therefore because of all these reasons he cannot accept to be the president of Hindu Samaj at any cost.
He further appealed to conduct fresh election or remove his name from the list of newly elected office bearers of Hindu Samaj for the period 2015-2017 .
