Imphal, January 10 2018:
The Manipur Friendship Organisation (MAFRO) has alleged that Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department submitted Actual Payee Receipts (APRs) without any knowledge of the beneficiaries of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) even though the same receipts claimed that the beneficiaries have received cash or kind.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, MAFRO assistant general secretary Toijam Suresh said that 200 farmers were selected from the four valley districts for RKVY in 2016-17 .
MAFRO, on enquiry, found that APRs were submitted claiming that four (goat) kids each have been distributed to the selected farmers.
Out of the 200 selected farmers, 80 even did not know they were given kids.
While around 10 per cent of the beneficiaries got certain amounts, the others were given token money so that their photographs can be taken and submitted to authorities concerned, Suresh alleged.
APRs were submitted in the names of two deceased farmers of Kairang and Khomidok.
One Md Islamuddin of Shikhong said that he did not receive any cash or kind.
He urged the authority concerned to take up befitting action against the fraudulent staff/officials and at the same time ensure that all the beneficiaries receive what are due to them.
