Imphal, January 10 2018:
The last date of submitting the nomination papers, for the election of Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) president on January 21, has been scheduled tomorrow, January 11 .
A notification for the election of the 16th party president, was issued by the State Returning Officer (SRO) on January 6.According to the said notice, the party's largest conference will be held on January 26 and followed by the election of its president.
The scrutiny will be conducted on January 13 and the last date of withdrawing the nomination paper will be on January 14, the next day.
It may be mentioned that Udoy Luwang had been selected as the SRO earlier.
A total of 378 voters of the electoral college will cast their votes for the election of the party president.
These voters include Kendra president, Central Committee Members, delegates, office bearers, Zilla Parishad Members and workers/ employees of Legal Cell, Chanura Marup, Yum Wing and Grievance Cell.
It is estimated that around four/five candidates will contest the election for the party president.
It may also be mentioned that O Jugindro is currently holding the post MPP's interim president.
