International seminar from today on "Human Security in Northeast Region"

A two-day international seminar on "Human Security in the Northeast Region: Challenges & Predicaments" would be held at Manipur University on March 2 and 3 under the joint aegis of the Department of Social Work, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus, Manipur, Centre for Manipur Studies and Centre for Alternative Discourse, Manipur.
Invited speakers Prof Sripapa Petchmeesr of Mahidol University, Bangkok, Prof.Kumarulzaman Askander, of University Sians Malaysia, Penang, Subodh Raj Pyakurel of the Informal Sector Service Centre, Kathmandu, Nepal, Prof.Anuradha M.Chenoy, Prof.Kamal Mitra Chenoy and Dr.Bhagat Oinam from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof.JJ Roy Burman, Tata Institute Social Sciences, Mumbai, Dr.KS Subramaniam, former IPS and Sr.
Fellow, Council for Social Development, New Delhi and Prof.CD Singh, Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak have already arrived at Imphal to take part in the seminar.
In addition to the invited speakers, more than 80 speakers from leading academic institutions and social organizations of Thailand, Spain and India shall be presenting papers in parallel technical sessions during the two days.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Imphal, Convenor of the seminar Dr Hanjabam Sukhdeba shared that the collaborative venture was necessitated by the fact that Regional Campus, Manipur of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University is a young university and thus, requires collaborative ventures.
Moreover, collaboration for knowledge sharing is the only way to keep pace with the globalized world, expressed Dr.Homen Thangjam and Dr.Aheibam Koireng, the co-convenors representing Centre for Alternative Discourse, Manipur and Centre for Manipur Studies respectively.
