Imphal, November 22 2013 :
UNLF Chairman Sanayaima has categorically stated that the indigenous people of Manipur have no other option for a progressive life except through inter-dependent co-existence where unique identities of each ethnic group are given due respects.
Speaking to media persons at the NIA Special Court, Guwahati yesterday on the before the outfit's 49th raising day (November 24), the rebel leader greeted all the revolutionary groups of WESEA in general and Manipur in particular.
He also conveyed best wishes to the oppressed people of Manipur.
Indigenous people of Manipur comprising of different ethnic groups need to struggle together to set up a sovereign, democratic country where each ethnic group enjoys autonomy at all levels in order to achieve a life of dignity and progress.
The collective objective of such a sovereign country should be an egalitarian society.
This would help in resolving conflicts between the rich and the poor.
As for the food security legislation announced by the Government of India, it would only render the impoverished mass of Manipur more dependent and destroy their work culture, the Chairman asserted.
The main obstacle to the collective aspiration of sovereign and egalitarian country is India's 'colonial rule'.
In the meantime, the 'colonial regime' has been continuously fragmenting the society.
In addition, the Government of India has been implementing several covert strategies aimed at igniting fraternal killings among the indigenous communities.
Such demands for alternative arrangement, separate State etc, would never succeed in resolving major issues confronting different communities of Manipur, he said.
The most fundamental issue at present is the Manipur-India conflict and its resolution.
The best possible resolution to the issue is democratic means of plebiscite as proposed by the UNLF in January 2005 .
One basic element for a Nation to be sovereign is self reliance in food grains.
The question of whether a Nation can achieve such a position depends on the collective strength and determination of peasants.
Saying that he suspected hands of the Indian army and their intelligence units in the recent series of bomb blasts in civilian areas in order to project the revolutionary movement in wrong light by blaming the revolutionary groups for the bomb blasts, Sanayaima noted that England based Amnesty International and US based Human Rights Watch have been exerting strong pressure on India to abolish AFSPA if Government of India claims to be upholding human rights in international arena.
Given such a scenario, it is possible that the Indian army and their intelligence units planted the bombs so as to justify continued imposition of AFSPA in Manipur, the Chairman added.
