CADA celebrates 11th foundation day

The Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) celebrated its 11th foundation day today at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound .
Regional Resource Training Centre NE-I Director Padmashree Dr A Jayantakumar, CADA president Advocate Y Ratankumar and Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa Vice-Principal Thokchom Rajendra attended the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour .
Speaking at the occasion, Advocate Y Ratankumar lamented that majority of the people have taken to one or another intoxicating substance even though there are laws and Acts which ban these drugs and intoxicating substances.
A variety of tobacco products, alcohol and different kinds of drugs are available in Manipur and they are being abused.
Most of the people in the age of group of 10 to 35 years have taken to one or another intoxicating substance irrespective of whether they are males or females .
This disturbing trend would have severe impacts on the society particularly the working group, students, youth and sports persons, Ratankumar said .
LMS Law College Reader Dr Chongtham Narendra and MU Economics Associate Professor Dr Chinglen Maisnam too spoke at the gathering.
