CCpur, September 18 2017:
The National Health Mission employees gathered in front of the CMO office today, to hold a collective dharna demanding the State Government to regularise their service, as was the case for other flagship schemes .
Arguing their case, the employees cites their contribution in delivering health care services across the State that ensures a remarkable IMR status for Manipur, which is nine deaths per thousand births as against national average of 43 .
The neighbouring States of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh have already absorbed the NHM employees as regular employees but the 2265 staffs in Manipur are left to fend for themselves without any service security grasping onto their contractual engagement, it said .

“We don't have any concrete HR policy, not a dedicated director, no employee provident fund, and our parent department the health department does count only as mission staffs”, laments the employee who are now organised as All Manipur National Health Mission Employees Welfare Association .
They also claimed to have petitioned the Chief Minister, the Minister concerned, the Health Secretary, and every other individual concerned, since July but to no advantage .
They have been reminding the authorities about their petition as well, and since their case was apparently left unheard, the association began the first form of agitation in a non-violent form, it said .
Their counterparts engaged in other flagship programmes of the Government such as DRDA, SSA, RSA, ITI, MSSRDA have all been regularised but not the NHM .
Therefore the association maintains that they will continue their agitation across the State, which may be more assertive in the days ahead if their pleas are not addressed .
'We do not want to do such activities but we are compelled to do it,' they added.
