Imphal, September 18 2017:
16 students of GNM Training School, Churachandpur, have left the institute due to severe lack of infrastructure .
Speaking to media persons at AMSU HQs today, the association's vice president, Peter Laishram, said that around 16 students of the said Government institute have left after the Principal failed to heed the appeal of the students regarding the lack of proper infrastructure, permanent warden and cook .
Altogether 27 students were selected as the first batch of the institute through the GNM Female Health Worker Common Entrance Test held on November 7, 2016 .
The students have been facing various inconveniences like lack of proper classrooms, proper fencing around the campus, lack of adequate teachers, lack of proper lighting systems, lack of warden and a cook and when the students complained about the issue to the Principal, their appeals failed on deaf ears, he added .
Peter claimed that the 16 students were brought to AMSU HQs after they were found by AMSU volunteers at Keishampat and added that they will stay at the HQs for the time being .
He further said that the students have also met with AMSU members as well as the Health Minister and pointed out that AMSU along with representatives of Health Directorate will organise a field visit to the institute tomorrow .
Expressing concern at the deplorable conditions of Nursing institutes in the State, Peter also appealed to the State Government as well as the authority concerned to ensure that the institutes properly adhere to the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council.
