The attendance signature of the teachers attending college will give a good indication of how many of them have been shirking duties, alleged the student body.
Moreover some lecturers attend class in inebriated conditions and create nuisance, alleged the student body .
Numerous formal complaints have been lodged with the Principal, but instead of taking action, she even threatened to get the college closed, alleged Phuiya .
Appealing to the authority concerned to ensure study atmosphere in the college and regular classes, the SUPC questioned why the Principal has failed to address her most important task/duty.
After Dr Ninghorla took over as the Principal in 2011, there has been a drastic decrease in the strength of the students from 952 to 220 added Rathanmi, another student leader.
On September 14, the Students’ Union Pettigrew College (SUPC) submitted a memorandum to the Education Minister for immediate removal of the incumbent Principal on or before September 20 and is waiting a response .
They further mentioned that though no specific assurance was given by the Education Minister the student body will be constrained to launch any form of democratic agitation in coordination with district level of student organizations if their demand is not acceded to.
