Kangpokpi, September 18 2017:
The two apex bodies of Kuki Students and Naga Students of the State, KSO and ANSAM, have articulated its support towards the tribal student's apex body ATSUM regarding the MU reservation row .
A joint press statement of KSO and ANSAM denounced the Manipur University authority in breach of the MoU signed on November 7, 2016 in which ATSUM, KSO, ANSAM, DESAM and MUTSU with MU authority agreed to strictly follow the Central Educational Institutes Act, 2006 and as amended on 2012 reservation in admissions and High Court ruling from the next academic session .
The joint press statement signed by KSO-GHQ president Paotinthang Lupheng and ANSAM president Seth Shatsang also said that despite the Manipur High Court judgment/ruling on August 21, 2017 and the standing Central Educational Institutes Amendment Act, 2012 which clearly states 31% for ST, 2% for SC and 17% for OBC, Manipur University authority continues to deprive the tribal students of their rights and added that KSO and ANSAM will no longer remain silent spectators .
While acknowledging the immense contribution by ATSUM in resolving MU imbroglio, for the larger interest of the student community, KSO and ANSAM have decided to support ATSUM's stand, in all its efforts to resolve the reservation matter once and for all, it asserted .
It further stated that it will be in the best interest of all if MU authority promptly rectifiy the recently declared entrance test results for the academic session 2017-2018 by following the CEI-AA, 2012 and High Court of Manipur ruling on August 21, 2017 .
The University must prepare to face intense agitation which will be launched under the aegis of ATSUM and like-minded student bodies of the State, it added.
