Imphal, August 18 2011:
Manipur has become a lost society today with no one to provide political direction and the trust of the people on politics is waning, State secretary of CPI Dr M Nara has expressed concern.
Addressing a public meeting organised by Khurai Local Council CPI at the Khurai Sajor Leikai residence of RK Amusana, who is being proposed as a party candidate in the upcoming General elections to the State Assembly, Dr Nara observed that Manipur is passing through a critical stage today on account of setback
in politics.
Contrary to the trust of the people reposed on politics at one time, emergence of many social workers and politicians who are trigger happy and ready to pour in money to coerce the voters has made politics look like some sort of a business venture.
Herding all the elected representatives to one place with an eye on capturing power would never do good to the society, Dr Nara said.
Dr Nara assured that CPI would be able to rectify all these political loopholes and steer the course of the society to the right direction if the public elect at least 12 to 15 party candidates in the upcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
MLA N Mangi, who was also present during the meeting, expressed surprise over the conduct of some MLAs who started campaigning for the election by disregarding the symbol of the political parties through which they have elected.
As for CPI, party is more important than the MLAs and they are kept under the control of the party.
MLA Mangi asserted that CPI has not attached itself with the SPF Govt but became a partner to make up required number for Government formation.
