Public leaders in Delhi express shock on Suraj's death

New Delhi, August 18 2011:
This morning, Manipuris living in New Delhi was shocked when they woke up with the sad news that Elangbam Suraj, Member of Manipur Legislative Assembly was tragically killed in a road accident at Mayur Vihar here at 1.45 am this early morning.
His friends in New Delhi rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Mayur Vihar to pay the last respect.
The Manipur Bhavan, Delhi organised a condolence meeting at the conference hall of the Bhavan at Sardar Patel Marg here at 3 pm today.
The condolence meeting was attended by former Chief Minister and sitting Rajya Sabha member Rishang Keishing, sitting Lok Sabha Members Dr.Thokchom Meinya and Thangso Baite, Hill Areas Committee Chairman Thangminlen Kipgen, Members of Manipur Legislative Assembly Doukhomang Khongsai and Haokholet Kipgen, Resident Commissioner Rakesh Ranjan, Additional Secretary of Labour, A.Tombikanta, former Director of RIMS Dr Fimate, Joint Director of Parliament Dachhabanta Samom and other officials posted in New Delhi, besides the family members of Elangbam Suraj.
After paying floral tribute to the Photograph of the MLA, the meeting observed two minutes silence to pay respect to the departed soul.
Former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing MP, in the condolence meeting, said that the death of Elangbam Suraj in a road accident was a sad ending of a political career.
He stated that his family was closely known to him for many decades.
He imagined how much the family would have suffered to bear the tragedy in the family � his father died few years back and then he died.
He prayed to the almighty for his bereaved family members to give the strength.
The Lok Sabha member Dr.Thokchom Meinya expressed profound shock and grief over the tragic and untimely death of Elangbam Suraj MLA.
He grew up with good academic career studying in Delhi.
His untimely death in his prime cut short a political career and promising leadership.
The Lok Sabha Member Thangso Baite expressed profound sorrow about the sad and untimely demise of Elangbam Suraj.
Describing his brilliant career in education and sports, Baite said, " It is huge loss for the party and all of us" .
AICC General Secretary in charge of Manipur, Luizinho Faleiro, personally visited at Manipur Bhavan here to meet the bereaved family members of Elangbam Suraj and expressed his hearfelt condolance on the sudden demise of Elangbam Suraj, Congress MLA.
Manipur Chief Minister who arrived this evening at New Delhi also paid floral tribute to the photograph of Elangbam Suraj and condoled the untimely demise of the young MLA.
Chief Minister met the family members of Elangbam Suraj at Manipur Bhavan here and had a long conversation.
Mortal remains of Elangbam Suraj would be brought to Imphal tomorrow by INDIGO flight which would depart Delhi at 7.45 am.
